Hummingbird: sip, sip, sip, fly-catch!

Shown in sequence, all happening within fifteen seconds.

I believe it’s a black-throated hummingbird.

Ruby-Throated Hummingbird visits

Resting for a moment….

This female Ruby-Throated Hummingbird (our best guess) was captured after I spent a few days experimenting with my camera (nothing fancy, just a little, 10-year old Sony digital) on a tripod.

After a few days of failure, I had everything set up, aimed just so at the flowers, so when she appeared, I slipped stealthily but quickly to the camera, turned it on, powered the zoom, and clicked away.  Out of ten shots, I got these:
